Hello  As you begin your search for a family, please know that we admire and respect your decision to choose adoption. Thank you for taking the time to consider us as adoptive parents. We are eager to meet with you and learn about the type of connection you wish to have with your child in the future. We are open to your plans for an ongoing relationship, if that is something you want.

ADOPTION  Since we are not able to have biological children, we are thrilled about the opportunity to adopt. We have friends who are adopted so adoption has always been in our thoughts. We feel the only thing missing in our lives is a child. We have always wanted children to love, nurture and share experiences with.

ABOUT US  We met through a mutual friend and were friends for a long time before getting married. We started dating and knew the only person we wanted to be with was each other. Our marriage is built on love and respect. Our relationship to each other and our family is valued and respected above all worldly possessions.

CHRISTEL, IN SHAWN'S WORDS "Christel is loving and optimistic. She is always making someone feel loved. I am lucky to be one of those people. She is able to find the positive in everyone and every situation. Being optimistic, there isn't much that she doesn't like to do, but her favorites are gardening, golfing, running with our dog Daisy, camping and fishing. She's a great cook, too! She also enjoys her job as a computer programmer. It is very flexible and would never be a problem to take off for those important events in a child's life. Any child would be lucky to have Christel as a mother, mentor and role model."

SHAWN, IN CHRISTEL'S WORDS  "Shawn is honest, caring and a hard worker. His hobbies include riding his dirt bike, playing golf, hunting and fishing. I love to watch Shawn interacting with kids. He has a way of bringing out their personalities, and he loves to play with them. I know he will be a great Dad when I see him take care of our friend's kids, who we baby-sit for occasionally. He is very patient with them. He is looking forward to being a stay-at-home Dad, when the time comes. Since Shawn owns his own business in the construction industry, he is able to put his work on hold."

FAMILY  Christel is the youngest of five children and loves spending time with her family, who is spread out across the country. Every year she gets together with her Mom, sisters, and many cousins for a girl's weekend. Once a month, we get together with Christel's sister and mother for dinner. Shawn has one brother, and his parents live close to us and are excited to be grandparents again. Their family has a hunting shack in northern Minnesota where Shawn goes hunting with his father, brother, nephew, uncle and friends. Shawn's family loves to golf, as do we. We get together in the summer to golf and participate in a charity tournament that helped Christel's father when he was battling cancer. We believe in giving back and paying forward.

NEIGHBORHOOD  Our home is located just north of the Twin Cities. It's an easy commute to the cities for work and entertainment, and yet we can enjoy living in the country. We have five acres with a lot of trees and a small pond. We like to take our dog for walks in the woods to see all the wildlife. We recently took on the task of building our dream home. Shawn is a quality carpenter and did most of the work himself.

FAMILY FUN  As a family, we enjoy taking road trips and exploring new places. We recently found Chengwatana state forest and rode our dirt bikes and hiked the trails. Last winter, we took a road trip to Arizona and hiked to the peak of Mt. Picacho. In the summer, we get together with friends to camp and fish in the boundary waters.

LIFE WITH US  If you decide to place your child in our family, we would love your child unconditionally, as would our extended family. We would teach your child to treat others as they would want to be treated, to respect others and themselves, and to know the loving plan you made for them. We would also help your child learn how to enjoy the simpler things in life, to treasure nature, the outdoors and camping, as we do.
